Reuniting a lost pet is emotional, exhausting, and unforgettable. Here are a few important next steps we recommend after bringing your pet home safely.
Give Them Time
Many pets are stressed, dehydrated, scared, or exhausted after being missing. Give them a quiet place to decompress, rest, eat, hydrate, and feel safe again.
Check for Injuries
Inspect paws, legs, ears, and overall condition for cuts, ticks, dehydration, soreness, or injuries that may have happened while your pet was missing.
Keep Them Close
Even reunited pets can still be anxious or unpredictable for a short time. Keep collars secure, doors monitored, and pets supervised while they readjust.
Two Small Actions That Help the Next Lost Pet Come Home

JOCO Pet Search & Rescue operates mostly through referrals from satisfied pet owners, and that visibility helps the next family find us faster.
