This Agreement is entered into voluntarily by the undersigned client (“Client”) and JOCO Pet Search & Rescue (“JOCO”) for the purpose of providing limited-scope assistance in locating and attempting recovery of a missing indoor-only cat.
This Agreement applies specifically to indoor-only cats unless otherwise disclosed by the Client.
The Client affirms that they are the legal owner of the cat or are otherwise authorized by the legal owner to request recovery assistance.
The Client voluntarily requests services from JOCO and agrees to the limited scope of services described herein.
JOCO provides structured, limited-scope recovery assistance which may include:
Thermal ground sweep using a handheld thermal monocular
Aerial thermal drone operations (when legally permitted and airspace conditions allow)
Owner-assisted humane trap deployment
Trail camera monitoring
Behavioral strategy consultation
JOCO does not guarantee location, containment, or recovery of any animal.
JOCO does not physically capture or handle cats unless expressly agreed to during a successful recovery scenario.
This Agreement is intended for indoor-only cats.
The Client acknowledges:
Recovery probability differs significantly between indoor-only cats and indoor/outdoor or formerly stray cats.
Indoor/outdoor or formerly stray cats may travel greater distances and exhibit survival behaviors inconsistent with concealment-based indoor cat patterns.
Not all indoor cats behave identically; some may roam farther or exhibit reduced fear responses when outdoors.
The Client acknowledges that cats commonly utilize concealment-based survival behavior and may hide in:
Crawlspaces
Drainage systems
Garages or sheds
Wooded areas
Dense vegetation
Structural voids
Under decks
Other inaccessible locations
Thermal or visual detection does not guarantee accessibility or successful recovery.
Cats may remain motionless for extended periods and may relocate primarily during nighttime hours.
JOCO performs three structured operational tasks during deployment:
A handheld thermal monocular sweep of immediate concealment zones near the escape location.
Typical duration: approximately 10–20 minutes.
A drone-based thermal scan conducted when legally permitted and airspace conditions allow.
Typical duration: approximately 10–20 minutes.
Deployment of one (1) humane trap equipped with a trail camera. Placement is owner-assisted and strategically determined based on behavioral analysis.
The trap and camera system may remain in place for up to six (6) consecutive days if no cat activity is detected.
If confirmed trail camera footage captures the missing cat at the trap location, the six (6) day monitoring period resets beginning on the date of confirmed detection.
This structured monitoring process is designed to establish behavioral patterns and prevent premature equipment removal.
The Client acknowledges that:
Cats may flee, relocate, or enter hazardous areas.
Cats may cross roadways or become further concealed.
Drone presence or trap placement does not control animal behavior.
Even when visually or thermally identified, recovery may not be possible.
JOCO is not responsible for injury, death, or loss occurring before, during, or after recovery efforts.
The Client agrees to follow recommended:
Feeding guidance
Scent placement instructions
Activity-restriction protocols
The Client is responsible for ensuring trap placement remains:
Legally authorized
Undisturbed
Safe
JOCO is not responsible for interference caused by neighbors, wildlife, weather, theft, vandalism, or third-party tampering.
A deployment fee of $180 is due upon arrival at the recovery location.
This fee covers:
Thermal ground sweep
Aerial thermal scan (when legally permitted)
Trap deployment
Trail camera monitoring setup
Operational expertise and structured search methodology
A recovery success fee of $50 is due only upon successful recovery of the missing cat in circumstances where JOCO directly contributed to or facilitated the recovery effort. This includes recovery resulting from:
Thermal detection
Trap capture
Behavioral strategy implementation
Coordinated recovery guidance
Deployment fees are earned for time, equipment use, expertise, and structured monitoring, regardless of recovery outcome.
JOCO retains sole discretion to postpone, modify, or discontinue aerial operations due to:
Airspace restrictions
Safety concerns
Weather conditions
Legal limitations
Operational impracticality
The Client agrees to release, indemnify, and hold harmless JOCO Pet Search & Rescue, its operators, affiliates, contractors, and equipment providers from any and all claims, damages, injuries, or liabilities arising from or related to recovery operations, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
The Client acknowledges that recovery operations may be documented via thermal imaging, video, or photography for documentation, training, and marketing purposes.
No identifying personal information will be disclosed without express permission.
This document constitutes the entire Agreement between JOCO Pet Search & Rescue and the Client.
No verbal statements, prior communications, or informal understandings modify the terms of this Agreement unless documented in writing and signed by both parties.
By checking the required acknowledgment box at checkout, the Client affirms they have read, understood, and agree to this Limited-Scope Emergency Indoor Cat Recovery & Attempted Rescue Agreement.
